In singing, there are 6 common voice types which determine your vocal range, or the range of music notes or area in which you are most comfortable singing.

Your voice range can sometimes blend into one or more of these. Once you know your main singing voice type it is then easier to find songs which fit within your voice range without causing strain or injury to your voice/ vocal chords, and it also helps you choose the right song for performing, for that next audition, or for improving your repertoire.
